The Importance of Giving Back!

Growing up I received a lot of support which made living with a disability easier. 

Therefore, its important for me to give back to the community.  For the past three years I’ve served as chair of the Board of Directors of Independent Living Sudbury Manitoulin (ILSM). 

 Independent Living Sudbury Manitoulin (ILSM) is a non-profit organization that empowers individuals with disabilities to live up to their potential and to teach them to advocate for themselves.  The organization is part of IL Canada which oversees 24 centres.  The philosophy of Independent Living is based on the rights of persons with disabilities to be valued equally, live with dignity, and participate fully in all aspects of life.

On Tuesday November 8, 2022, ILSM held their first annual volunteer appreciation dinner, and I was humbled and honored to receive a certificate of appreciation. 

I want to thank the organization for allowing me to serve as chair of the Board of Directors.
